Dunes in rain

On Friday I went to Hub Vilnius event, main purpose of which was to exchange ideas. I’m still taking in what I’ve heard and how I can use it. One of memorable presentations was about finding job you should like and if you don’t, problems will start building up and you won’t just get ‘used to it’. After that I went to my least favorite bar to meet some friends. Today main goal of the morning was to write perfectly argumented letter to police concerning my who* neighbor, because while her father is passed ou she’s not only continuing to organize orgies but also spends days listening loud music and I wish I could sleep at least for one weekend. We’ll see what spring will bring.

Hipsters gonna hip

Since it’s not quite popular not to  like mainstream places, it’s good that I can write so. So, I really really really don’t like Pianoman which is somehow (that totally surprises me) popular. It’s expensive, they don’t have local beer, public are mostly foreigners, always mass of drunk people Since first time I went there I hated that place but somehow it became so mainstream that I was there few more times. When i told that i don't like this places, almost everybody looked at me as if i grew second head. Maybe it's because i don't afraid of being classified as 'one who don't like almost everything' and express my opinion if i have one.

I never liked bars where they don't have local lithuanian beer ( Švyturys, Utenos, Kalnapilis is not calssified as 'local' in my opinion, i name them 'maistream'). And i don't like mainstream places as they are usually too loud, making quite hard to enjoy drink and chat, also full of tourists and have not so good prices. There few places in Vilnius old town where 'everybody goes', but it makes me cringe most of the time. It's Box - nice food, but in evenings - big NO. Crazy face control (trying to take way water - always BIG BIG minus for any place) and no good beer. Second is mentioned Pianoman. And also Summer terrace. Never understood popularity of that place - no good beer, quite overprices, no cards accepted. Have nice concerts thoug.

Whereabouts

I feel like getting into winter rest mode nowadays – doing things slowly, sleeping longer, walking slower and enjoying view. Also I got into money saving mode as it became more pleasurable to out few times a week instead of every other day. I still try to explore city as much as possible while walking a lot and hiking every weekend. These days are full of posed grief as Whitney Huston died just a day before Grammys, two days ago. I can bet that if she would have died longer time ago, she would have gotten award for lifetime achievement of something like that, as all singers dead in ongoing year does. I never understood why some people, mostly so-called-stars feels the need to express ‘grief’ instead of keeping it to themselves. Although I see a lot of space for improvement in Lithuania, things like that makes me glad I’m not American of English, shivering from ‘arctic’ cold. There’s one English guy I know here, in Vilnius, but I never talk to him although seeing him constantly as he has no manners when among people and lied two times to me. Somehow seeing him I always wander if he is struck with cold there and maybe it froze all his manners. Although it’s just a start of the week, I can’t wait for weekend already. Few weeks ago I participated in really cool pub crawl and was amazed how many cool pubs with their own exquisite public. The only annoying thing was when people got drunk and started being too clingy for my liking. That’s always point of parties requiring most patience. Being not alcoholic is sometimes hard. But at least I have nothing to regret being done while drunk which I saw so many times…

Things got frozen

Last few week everybody were and still is to protect themselves from -30C cold and laughing at English tabloid ‘journalists’ pissing in their pants because of barely -10 cold. That makes me glad I never thought about emigrating there and made plans more south instead. Nowadays I’m walking with three sweaters, two pair of socks, two heats and feel kinda o.k. Surprised at how much I find to do at home while not wanting to ho out… Nowadays trying to make myself feel better :)
